Cincinnati Casino Closed
Cincinnati's casino will close next month for rebranding. Horseshoe Casino will reopen as JACK Cincinnati Casino, now that control of the business is changing hands.
This contradicts reassurances by Jack Casino Cincinnati that it will remain open for business for the time being. Earlier Thursday, DeWine’s office announced a ban on “public gatherings” of more.
Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati, downtown, Miami Valley Gaming in Lebanon and Belterra Park Cincinnati in Anderson Township all plan to remain open despite a ban on gatherings of 100 or more people. A spokeswoman for JACK Entertainment says the casino in Cleveland will close for about 40 hours next week as the Horseshoe name and logo are removed from the building. Gayle Joseph says Cincinnati's casino will also close, but it's not clear for how long. She says the length of the closure will depend on how long the transition in Cleveland takes.
The closure in Cincinnati is tentatively planned for the second week in June.
Rock Gaming, now JACK Entertainment, bought out Caesars' stake in the two casinos and two racinos, including Turfway Park in Florence, last November and announced the name changes in February. At that time, JACK Entertainment CEO Matt Cullen told WVXU the name change would be accompanied by a new member rewards program, new games, and new menus.

Belterra Casino Resort, Belterra Park and Jack Casino, Miami Valley Gaming and Hollywood Casino will all open their doors next week. The Ohio openings come after Gov. Mike DeWine announced the businesses could open as early as June 19.
DeWine said casinos and racinos can reopen with restrictions: poker, coat check, valet services, concerts and banquets won't be available yet.
The maximum capacity will be limited to no more than 50% of fire code, most employees will wear face coverings and special hours will be set aside for at-risk populations, such as older adults.
Indiana casinos including Rising Star Casino, Hollywood Casino and Belterra Casino Resort will open Monday.
Boyd Gaming, which owns the Belterra properties, said Belterra Casino Resort in Indiana will reopen Monday at 11 a.m. and Belterra Park Cincinnati will reopen on Friday, June 19 at 10 a.m.
Earlier this month, Belterra Park Racetrack reopened for horse racing, albeit without fans.
Only essential personnel will be permitted at the track on race days. The racing commission issued a long list of guidelines to operate.

At Belterra, here are changes you will see:
- Guest health screenings are being conducted on arrival. All guests are encouraged to wear facial coverings.
- Hand sanitizer is available and complimentary for all guests.
- Guest spaces are cleaned and disinfected multiple times daily with EPA-approved products. This includes: slot machines, chairs, table games, restaurants, kitchens, restrooms, doors, handrails, counters, ATMs, kiosks, and Team Member areas.
- The frequency of air filter replacement and HVAC system cleaning has been increased.
- Slots, table games, and restaurant & bar seating is configured and limited to adhere to social distancing recommendations.
- Guest occupancy limits are followed in retail shops and banquet & meeting spaces.
- COVID-19 training, health screenings, and masks are provided to all Team Members.
Jack Casino, future home of the Hard Rock Casino, said it will be opening on June 19 but don't expect to see Hard Rock signage yet.
Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati President George Goldhoff said carpets have been deep cleaned and sanitized. Slot machines, air duct systems, casino chips and all high touch surfaces have also been deep cleaned.
'It was a tough several months, but we are Cincinnati Strong. We stuck together and saw each other through, and now it’s time to get back on track,' Goldhoff said.
Guests will see the designated 'Safe + Sound Clean Team,' which will wear by their brightly colored shirts sanitizing all high-touch surface areas with frequency 24/7.
'I wish I could say for certain there will be no glitches upon reopening. What I can say beyond a doubt is that we have a team of individuals who are committed to providing a safe and sound environment and we are taking every precaution to ensure you, and our staff feel safe,' Goldhoff said. 'While the guest experience may look and feel different, we will continue providing first-class hospitality our guests deserve and enjoy.'
Cincinnati Casino Closed Due
Rising Star Casino and resort will be opening June 15 at 6 a.m., as will Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg but did not give a specific opening time.
Miami Valley Gaming will open Friday, June 19 at 8 a.m.
